DeepFeet 1 is where your barefoot massage journey begins. This Introduction to Ashiatsu course is an intensive 30-hour certification program to be completed in a 4 week period remotely from the comfort of your home or office. You will be enrolling with a group of licensed massage therapists and be a part of your very own barefoot massage community.

Students will have lots of “feet on” time in this class and should expect a moderate level of difficulty during the first training session in barefoot massage, but with some adjustments and practice time, most discover that their feet are intuitive enough to deliver strokes with confidence. For more information about students’ physical expectations please see our FAQ section. The DeepFeet teaching protocols are designed to work with each individual practitioner’s skill level, physical characteristics, and learning style.

The emphasis during the 30-hour intensive course will be on DeepFeet methodology, body mechanics, barefoot application, contraindications, marketing, and certification. The barefoot massage techniques are western focused and include cross-fiber friction, effleurage, petrissage, compression as well as trigger point and myofascial techniques.

Each week students will engage with one another for peer to peer feedback and also attend a 1- hour Zoom meeting with a Certified DeepFeet Instructor. Students are required to set aside 8-10 hours of time per week to complete coursework and practice treatments.

The last week of the course will conclude with a 1-hour private practical examination done remotely with your instructor. Coursework includes video instruction, digital lecture, online quizzes, digital evaluation forms, video reviews,  community forum & weekly instructor meetings.

Upon completion, the bodyworker will receive 30 CE credits and become certified in DeepFeet 1. In addition, the therapist will have enough barefoot skills and knowledge to deliver a 60-75 minute detailed posterior Ashiatsu massage session.

Our comprehensive Ashiatsu Virtual E-learning course has been created with the same amount of quality and care that we put forth in our live classroom teachings. We’re here to help you along the way to understand every element of performing the best barefoot massage techniques you can.

This is not a typical self-paced home study massage course that only involves a written manual and video instruction. Our course meets the standards of a true distance learning experience where students will log into a private secure online platform and follow a detailed course outline while monitored and guided by a certified DeepFeet Instructor. Students are tested on each lesson and must complete all assignments before they are able to move onto the next week of the curriculum. Most students will spend approximately 3-4 hours on our lecture portion of the class before viewing ashiatsu video instruction. Our number one goal is safety for both the therapist and the client. Making sure you have an understanding of proper bar construction, contraindications and body mechanics is key to delivering a safe and productive Ashiatsu treatment.

Documented practice sessions are required to complete our virtual courses and receive full CE credit.  What sets our virtual courses apart from others is that our course content is delivered in a fashion that is interesting,  challenging and most importantly holds students accountable for learning and retaining the content so that you can practice Ashiatsu effectively and successfully beyond your time with us.
