Hot stones, used in massage, have been around for a very long time -- with evidence of
stones being used for healing purposes dating back before written history. Ancient civilizations believed that hot stones were beneficial in healing in many ways, especially for cleansing the body, relaxing the heart, grounding the soul and soothing the mind.
This exotic treatment involves the placement of heated polished lava rocks on pressure points and chakra points and the application of heated stones with oil into the skin. Aromatic oils encourage deep relaxation and calm the soul.
Please note that the Hot LavaStone Course is completely separate from the Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy® training.
However,
once trained in barefoot basics we can show you how to
incorporate an amazing combination routine using both
modalities. Clients literally float out of your treatment
room after experiencing the two together. Please be advised
that not all of our Ashiatsu instructors teach the Hot
LavaStone course, so check with the
Denver
office to find out when classes are offered.
The cost is $300 for the Hot LavaStone course which includes hands-on,
one-on-one training, student manual, detailed outline and history of stone massage, transcript and certificate of training. A beautiful set of 40 multi size Basalt Lava Stones for your practice is included in the price. We recommend that you purchase your stones from us as we are a reputable educator and buy only quality stone sets used for our classes. Don’t’ be fooled to buy before you try. Some retailers will be happy to sell you a large quantity of very small size stones that won’t even hold the heat for a 50 minute massage routine. Beware of harvesting your own stones in glaciers and cold river beds for they have less density and a different mineral content. They may explode or crack when heated day after day to high temperatures.
There are many types of Hot Stone massage training available, ranging from a 2 day course for
$600 to $49.99 "Do it yourself" videos with no regulation or discussion on the theory behind the treatment. We highly recommend that all massage therapists plan to attend a formal certification or training program even if they have gone with a non-approved course or video. Many consumers are getting burned out there!
Our Hot LavaStone Course is NOT an energy-based application and our focus is on blood flow, lymph exchange and deep tissue techniques. Special discounts can be arranged for group in-house training any where in the country.
